FOR more than a month a Rockhampton man who won more than $600,000 in Gold Lotto didn't know about his windfall, as he failed to return Golden Casket's calls.
The man won $682,002 on Saturday, May 17, but proved elusive to Golden Casket, who tried to contact him several times with the good news. This week the man finally returned the calls and was shocked to find he'd won the first-division prize. True to the casual and relaxed style the man showed in coming forward for the prize, the man, who asked for anonymity, said the win wouldn't change his life too much. "It will just make life a lot more comfortable," he said. The man purchased his entry from Card and Paper in North Rockhampton. Despite not coming forward earlier, Golden Casket was able to identify the winner as he had registered his entry to his Winners Circle card. "Currently 70% of our customers play with their Winners Circle Card, which means we can contact them if they haven't checked their numbers or have lost their entries," Golden Casket public relations manager Jayne Cree said. "As a value-added service, if people don't collect their prizes within 13 weeks, we mail them their prize cheque through the program." Meanwhile, CQ had another Gold Lotto winner on the weekend when a Springsure couple captured $571,428. The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, said they would use their prize to implement drought relief for their property. Source: http://www.themorningbulletin.com.au/ |
